Skiing in Poconos
One of the most favorite winter attractions in Pennsylvania is skiing in Pocono Mountains. With elevations between 1100 and 2200 ft above sea level one can hardly call them mountains. But Poconos provide Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey and Delaware residents with a number of all-winter ski resorts that are 2-3 hours away and hard to pass by.  Fully equipped with lifts and runs for all ages and skills they create a perfect one-day or weekend gateway for families and experienced skiers alike.
Every resort has training classes for beginners. Although snow is usually being made by snow-making machines in the beginning of a season and is quite icy, it is hard to tell the difference after a good snow fall.
Season starts in mid-December and is continued until late March. Skis, snowboards and other equipment are available for rent at every resort. Night skiing also available, some resorts have illuminated slopes.
