	Russian boy - in coma in US for five months

David Kurbanov, 16, from Moscow has been in coma for five months after a surgery in a clinic in Oklahoma City, a source from the Russian Consulate in Houston told Tass Wednesday. Passions are running high as the boy’s father and the hospital personnel are attempting to decide the boy’s fate, said Russian Consul Kirill Mikhailov. The boy and his father Sabit Kurbanov arrived in Oklahoma City from Moscow last October for surgery after which the boy fell into a coma. The Russian Consulate in Houston offered help as soon as it learned about the incident to an extent to which a consulate could tackle a problem of a private character, the consul said. The Consulate keeps in touch with the boy’s father, the hospital administration, and the Oklahoma administrative structures that actively helped settle the problem. “However, the situation to a great extent depends on the relationship between the boy’s father and the hospital personnel,» the consul said. “Our task is to ensure that the sides concerned should have a possibility to make a decision without infringing on mutual interests,” the diplomat stressed. The Russian Consulate appealed to the Oklahoma governor and other members of the city administration. “It is a private and a very delicate matter, and we cannot impose decisions on anyone. The boy’s father and the hospital personnel should reach a corresponding agreement,” the Russian consul said.
