Ukrainian Supreme Rada denied conducting of NATO multinational training

raiting (0/2) On March 16, the Ukrainian Supreme Rada for the 3rd time denied to approve the proposition of President Viktor Yushchenko regarding granting access to foreign military troops at Ukrainian territory to participate in NATO multinational training. As a REGNUM correspondent informs, despite the Ukrainian government efforts, majority of the parties declined to support presidential initiative, so only 178 MPs voted for it. First vice-speaker of the Parliament Adam Martynyuk told that he awaited such reaction from MPs, who always denied presidential attempts to draw Ukraine in NATO that is impossible, when majority of population stands of anti-NATO positions. MP, member of “Ukraine Regions” party, Vladimir Zubanov stressed that on the day before the voting, several MPs, including Head of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security Georgy Kryuchkov, leader of united socialists, ex-president Leonid Kravchuk and other MPs, condemned governmental efforts to draw Ukraine in NATO, and proposed to initiate inter-fractional group “Neutral Ukraine”, and now many MPs expressed desire to participate in the work of the group. Kryuchkov also said that it was an expected reaction from the Supreme Rada, that voted against conducting of NATO multinational training, because forced acceptance of such decisions can only cause negative reaction in society, which is not the best way to improve people's trust in the current government.
