Castro had to take lots of crap, both what he deserves and what he doesn't.
I wonder if tomorrow U.S. Congress will stop economic embargo against Cuba. Probably NOT, I think communism has nothing to do with the embargo...
My guess is...it is either: 1) altered ego of some who owned hotels and casinos on the island and can't forget it. Probably because it used to be a U.S. territory, and no longer is. 2) Second guess is just as good - to protect a U.S. sugar grower's ridiculously high sugar prices from cheap Cuban sugar. After all, they contribute 17% of all campaign money to the Government...
Funny thing...although many believe embargo is there because of "communism", the fact is it has been codified into law in 1992 when Soviet Union has been gone for a while. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_embargo_against_Cuba

Today one person told me that this embargo has nothing to do with communism and stuff. USA in general does not mind to have good relations with Cuba. The problem is in.. some rich Cubans who really hate Fidel dude, those who migrated to the USA long time ago and got political power in the USA. They prevent USA dealing with Cuba for mostly personal reasons. I dunno if it's correct, probably it is. I've met one Cuban guy like that. He really hates Cuba/Fidel. And also he hates Russians. Even though he's been in the USA for a long time, he sounds like he wants to kill everybody who's somehow relates to Cuba/Fidel or Russia. Does not it look similar to some russian immigrants?

HMMMM, One more thing we can agree on. It has nothing to do with communism. Although sugar may have some things to do with it. I doubt if it has too much bearing. The Bay of Pigs fiasco probably has more to do with it than sugar. I.E. Bruised egos. I think it's funny that Castro has never cashed a single check from the U.S. Government on the lease of the Naval Base at Gitmo. The missile crisis is still in the minds of the people. Human rights. Prisoners of conscience.
Their will be no trade embargo lifted anytime soon though. It would be nice to lift the travel restrictions.

Brad,
Travel is kinda trade. Now USA does not want you to go to Cuba and spend money there. And if you go there after some permission(like education stuff) somehow you must prove the US that you did not spend over some limited amount.
Also this "embargo" is bullshet, it's actually one way embargo. USA does not buy anything from Cuba, but does sell stuff to Cuba! Is not it very nice and fair? Cuban import is 3 times greater than export.
