WTF are you talking about? I'll learn any language I want. I hope it pisses you people off that I can learn, even at my age.
I don't know a lot of Russian. I can't speak a lot. But I can read.
The only problem is closed minds.
If you can't accept the fact that it's a global society now?
Idi v mandu. Very happy

Удивительно, что Америка не хочет переходить на Русский язык... неужели не хватает способностей чтобы выучить всем русский?

Jane, I have the capacity to learn Russian. I just have no one to speak it with. Ne s kem pogovorit.
In the winter it's better, because I work in a ski shop. A lot of Russian people come in to buy skis, and boots.
But please. you shouldn't think that all Americans are stupid.
And I would hope you don't think I'm stupid

Brad, take it easy buddy, you going to have a stroke if you will get all worked up about every little piece of dialog that you don't quite understand. Nobody says Americans are stupid, well, some people do but those people have never been here so who are they to make a judgment? What people are saying here is that nobody should have special provisions for anybody. You are learning Russian, good for you! I can't quite understand why but, it's your choice. Americans don't have to learn Russian and Russians don't have to learn English, but if they wish to do so, good for them.

Jane's post as well as Klava's post were sarcastic remarks. You can see in some Russian areas in US when people are talking about Americans saying - "They don't speak Russian, what a bunch of idiots"; well, American's don't have to speak Russian, after all, it's Russians that came here to US, so who should adapt to whom?

I admire your determination in learning new language, especially Russian since in my opinion it is one of the most complex languages around. At times what you say in Russian can become the opposite just by the way you put your sentences together or pronounce it.

Sarcasm, buddy, that is all it was.

Now, on to the subject in hand - there is always going to be difficulties. Russia as well as US are never going to be satisfied with anything less then being worlds superpowers. That's how it was and this is how it will be. This is the cause of all of this difficulties. When US was bombing Kosovo, that was an insult to Russia since nobody bothered to ask Russians how would you feel about us kicking the crap of one of the countries which is always assumed as being one of the sister countries of Russia. Kind of like you don't ask your little brother if you should do something or not. After all, he is just a little brother, so who cares. When US went into Iraq, Russia was protesting cause Iraq owns butt load of cash to Russia, and now they will not be able to pay. Why do you think Russia is not thrilled with possible actions against Iran - same reason.

The thing that puzzles me the most is if you ask regular American citizen if he or she cares what happens in Russia, he or she will say no. If you ask Russian the same question - he will say yes, simply because many of them were brainwashed thinking that US is the enemy here.

Opinions described above are those of the author and I don't really care if you agree with me or not.

I want to agree with Tostring, specifically the issue concerning who cares about whom. To put it simply, Americans, including the middle and not so middle classes, generally don’t care about Russia or Russians. It simply does not come up. Russia is not a concern because it does not pose a threat or economic viability.

I'm not going to have a stroke Very happy Very happy .
But if these people keep meeting stupid Americans? May I suggest hanging out with a better class of people.
Maybe because of where I live, and the jobs I work at. But I don't meet a lot of stupid people.
With the exception of when I have to help with the ski rental counter.
We call them S.P.O.R.E. "Stupid People On Rental Equipment.
I could fill a book on the stupid stuff people have said, and done.
I'll give you an example.
3 years in a row this family came into the ski shop. I asked them to fill out the rental forms. I would have to walk them through the whole form. It's a simple form. Address, State you live in. Height, weight, Age. Pretty basic stuff.
Then I would ask them for their shoe sizes. None of them would know it
How do you not know your own shoe size?
Finally the 3rd year I couldn't take it anymore.
I asked them... How do shop for shoes at Wal-Mart? Do you go around randomly trying on shoes till you stumble upon the right size?
They never came back after that Very happy Very happy Very happy .

So if these are the Americans that this post is about? Then I agree. But most Americans are fairly clever people.

Very funny Danny. No they were just stupid.
But here's another good one.
I was working the rentals one day. This person came in to rent skis, and boots.
I go through the normal routine with him.
We get to the point where we are getting his boot size. He kept asking for a bigger size. We go from size 9 to size 13. Now I can't see through the counter. So I get out from behind it to help him out. He's still got his shoes on.
I could not believe that. I should have let him go skiing like that.

But that's the rental business anyways.
Most of the people I work with on the sales floor are very smart people. And that includes the Russian folks who come in for ski equipment.

Very happy

Jane, you lost me right after this.
Хорошо, что люди понимают иронию.=It's good that people understand irony.
Something about gas, and milk prices. Billboard ads, Pentagon, rent, versus buying.
You have a kid, " I think that's what you said "

Will someone help with the translation?

Brad,
Jane said that his child is keeping asking him to buy a ski board, and he (Jane) doesn’t know the difference between cheap and expensive boards.
So he is asking what kind of board he should buy, and who cares how much it cost if it will be broken anyway
