Very happy Very happy Very happy

This is really funny. And the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize Award goes to..
..drums..
..drums..

Al Gore

http://nobelprize.org/nobel_prizes/peace/laureates/2007/press.html

They are morons.

Gorbachev got a peace prize for breaking up Soviet Union, destroying Yugoslavia and starting several wars.

Now Al Gore, a spineless politician, moron who even claimed he invented the internet, now got one "for their efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change"

Anfreakinbelievable.

Very happy Very happy

It's not that funny Sheriff. The guys a moron, and a liar. Opps, I guess that's any politician.
It's not moronic. It's sub-moronic. To call them morons would be insulting to real morons.

Hey, I thought you were pro democratic?

If I may add, Al Gore did win, majority of people voted for him. The fact that Bush is in office just means that democracy doesn't work in this country.

Also, in his movie, Al Gore did some reaserch into articles that disprove gloal warming - well out of all scientific articles (meaning articles written by accredited scientists) printed in the year he researched 100% agreed that global warming exists. BUT out of all the editorials (articles written by all sorts of journalists with no scientific background) vast majority disagreed that global warming exists.

Conclusion - whenever you read an article that tries to disprove global warming - it has been paid for by oil/electrical/manufacturing industry and is not based on real facts or real science. Nothing other than editorial prostitution.

And lastly, out of all the politicians in the house, congress and white house, he certainly had the most to do with the creation of internet.

Just my $0.02 Cool

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_Performance_Computing_and_Communication_Act_of_1991

But I don't see how he wins a Nobel Peace Prize. Serega, I respect your opinion, but I am sorry, the guy just has no credit there. US hasn't signed Kyoto Protocol, he was there and Clinton praised him, yet WHERE IS THE SIGNATURE? It was all political BLAH

There's no scientific proof that global warming is human-made...IMHO there's LOTS of scientific proof that Al Gore's "particles" and CO2 story is just that - story.

Planet has its own cycle, it cools and gets hot. It's always in a cycle, cooling or getting hotter. Carbon dating of ice that Gore uses in his movie (I watched it) is not scientifically sound, as cabon can escape from ice easily and therefore "ice carbon dating" to see carbon centuries ago is an almost impossible task.

UK Judge ruling on Al Gore's alarmist movie
http://www.predictweather.com/global_warming/index.asp
Daily Telegraph on global warming
http://science.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=06/11/06/1942231

and so on.

Anyway, IMHO cars and car emissions are completely irrelevant issue. Cars exist now that can go 100 miles per gallon, and all it takes is knocking down some barriers and making them available mainstream - and voila, "global warming" solved.

Also, I don't disagree that humans cause lots of problems for the environment. But giving Gore Nobel prize because of that? Please...

Sheriff, I didn't see the movie. That's not my type of thing. But wasn't their a study about how cattle create more greenhouse gas than cars.
Or maybe it was just a theory from Al Gore? Very happy . Seriously though, I remember reading something about that.
The theory behind not signing Kyoto was that it would stagnate the American economy. " But the Government doesn't care about other economies " Well, not entirely true. If it's owned by the Corporations? Well, it's a free market. Or so the saying goes.
Warming and cooling cycles. Yes, it's been going on since the creation of Earth. Maybe if Al could invent a cleaner fuel? Then it would go back to the cooling cycle.
I hope so. I'm getting sick of no good ski years

I guess I'll add to that...

Basically his movie was politically correct. There was "me, Al Gore the great" in it, lots of blah with minor scientific details, and NOT A SINGLE entity of global warming revealed, Not a single company or group named.

Yet, we all know who they are. Exxon-Mobil, Ford, GM, Shell - they are here. They sell oil. They make car engines that burn oil so badly they pollute everything around. They lobby against nuclear power plants, and whenever foreign coutnries want to build nuclear they call them "axis of evil", "terrorists" and "french". Roll Eyes

Al Gore had no balls to name them. Call it political surviving skills. He's got pat on the back from Clinton, he's got one from oil moguls. Now he's got one from european globalists.

BUT his movie doesn't even hold a handle to Michael Moore's or guy's who directed "Who killed electric car".

---
Maybe we all've been better of had he been our real president, not Bush. Probably, 'cause it doesn't get much worse than Bush. But I guess we'll never know.

brad: I'm getting sick of no good ski years

Years back I lived in Sacramento, Ca. I've been to Boreal Ridge.
But you don't really see bikini skiing until April, or May.
But I see that at Loon Mountain in April also.

Now if you go to yahoo.com news. They have a slightly different take on Al Gores win.

Sheriff, why all the Russian bride ads on here? I thought the cookies from doubleclick were suppose to follow what we were talking about? Confused

Ah, their we go. Now the ads are for climate change. I spoke too soon
LOL. Now it's back to Russian brides. Oh the speed of the internet

All I am saying is that politicians don't make people's lifes better, they make their own lifes better and at least Al Gore tried to do something about global warming, which is a lot better than anything Dick Chaney ever done (although he did shoot a lawyer, that's something). Cool

As far as cooling and heating cycles, sure there are cycles, they are predictable and have real causes and effects. What we are experiencing now - 12 hottest years ever all happened since 1990, that's no "cycles", that's planet starting the process of eliminating man, we've simply done too much harm to it.

Serega, Did you read any of the second link Sheriff posted?
It talked about how people in London, England built houses, but put water pipes on the outside. And that was in the 1830's. By the 1880's the pipes were freezing up. It also talked about in the 1300's. It said it was the warmest century on record. ERRRR, according to scientific data.
It talked about how CO2 is heavier than O2. And CO2 stays closer to the ground. Is absorbed more by the ocean than anything. It said how the only way it can get into the upper atmoshere is through heavy winds. I.E. Tornado's, Hurricane's. That stuff.
But we have done more to help. No more cfc's in aerosol containers. Cleaner more efficient burning engines.
I know that it's offset by more drivers. But it's a start.
We're dredging the PCB's out of our rivers. Cleaning up superfund sites

Maybe dear ole Al could work on those solutions with an open mind.Instead of his " I'm the only one who is right, and everyone else is wrong attitude "

I think the Nobel Peace Prize should have been awarded to some guy clearing land mines around the World. Or someone who is trying to help the people of Darfur escape the genocide.

Maybe Al could sit at his computer and write a program to eliminate spam. Now that would bring more peace to my World.

Brad, I looked into Sheriff's 2nd link, it all seems very plausable until you check into who wrote it. It's written by Ken Ring who is a scam artist who claims to predict weather by watching the moon. Here's a whole article that says virtually every single one of his predictions is completely false. http://www.sillybeliefs.com/ring.html

So believing what he says is sort of like listening to opinion on Iraq and Iran given by Washington "think tanks" who so far got everything wrong - from war paying for itself, lasting for 2 weeks, saddam having WMDs, etc. Some people still believe them even though it's now obvious all they were doing is pushing a policy that will line the pockets of certain individuals at the expense of countless lifes and putting our children into debt.

So much like selling Iraq war, and more recently Iran war, disproving global warming can be a profitable business.

This is a viscous circle. Because now I'm right back to where I said before. {B}I don't believe everything I read on the web{B}.
But it is a fact that the ocean absorbs co2.
And we do have a better environmental record than China.
