He has the right to do so, it's in the Russian constitution. US mainstream media is just trying to blow this out of proportion in their usual Russia-bashing way.

What does this have to do with Communism? Putin has a right to fire his ministers, just like Bush can fire his. This happens all the time all over the world with not much attention from media, but if it happens in Russia it's a big deal all of a sudden. This is just the start of 2008 election race, that's all there is to it.
