I am a bit geek. I used to study math, now I work with computers. So I know stuff, at least I think I do...

It is really MIND BLOWING how scientific communities in both US and Russia are politicized. It borders insane. You would think that science is science, and there are no borders. You would be WRONG. Science is religion and politics mashed up together to partially educate, partially brainwash young minds.

Just looking at mathematics, Russians believe they are IT. You would not dare to question their world superiority in mathematics. I don't know how it started, but probably because Russia has very good math theorists. Math, and Physics too.

Now, U.S. wouldn't even consider russians to be close. Because U.S. has their own set of bright mathematicians (ok, some of them are immigrants, so what).

But funny as it goes, all major theories in mathematics were developed by europeans, middle easterners and asians.

Each country publishes mostly books by their own citizens. School and study guides are definitely created by their own countrymen, scewed toward their respectful countrymen's theories. Only geniuses from other countries have a chance to be in schoolbooks.

These are IMHO 2 parallel universes of science developing, one taking things from the other, yet naming it differently and puting their own scientist's names on everything. What a shame.

Example: I've ran into "Armstrong inference axioms" for databases (stop reading here if you know nothing about math or computers). Now, every american college book has these. Funny these rules are nothing more than classical mathematics rules of reflexivity, transitivity and symmetry. Probably 400 years old, maybe more. Nobody is claiming these, 'cause it would be stupid to claim, just like claiming you invented + and = signs. Yet, here they are, "Armstrong axioms".

And what about table of periodic elements?
And there are thousands of other examples.

yeah, mathematisc sucks:-) i mean axioms suck:-)

those Armstrong axiom are so obvious, so nobody bothered to yell about them except this guy in 1974.

Amerikans hate to mention Mendeleev for periodic table

Drill this out and see if you are a mathematician!

Scenario:
There is a bus with 7 girls inside,
Each girl has 7 bags,
Inside each bag, there are 7 Big cats,
Each Big cat has 7 small cats,
All cats have 4 Legs each!

Question: How many Legs are there inside the bus?

The total number of Legs would be the password for this file: *****

(i reveived it today at work, no jokes Smile))
