In English - I want to know your opinions on how much it takes to retire - in countries you know something about. So we can all stick it to the corporate dollar waving stickmen and go about our dream lives in Rio de Janeiro.
P.S. I am fairly young to retire

LOL Sheriff, it the same thing as the topic on us poor Americans. It all depends on where you live, what you expect from your golden years, how much you've saved, did you refinance your house? Are your kids still in college? It's all subjective to the area you live in. How hard you have worked in your life

I disagree. I think if you can only reasonably afford to retire in area where you live in 65-70, then you should definitely move. There are places around the world where you can live comfortably with $200,000. This is true for Russia, I am sure lots of other Eastern European countries are close. Central and South American countries are close.
There are MANY people who already retired in their 30th and 40th. They just don't "work for the man, save moneys" as propaganda tells you, they found a better place to live. They spend less, and have a stable income they can live on for the rest of their lives. I want to hear more about it.
And as Akakiy said, americans should read Vanguard prospects, work untill they can't move anymore, untill 70 whatever, then "retire" "comfortably". At that point people's brains are not functioning that well (not everyones, but probably common), so Vanguard and doctors can basically take over their moneys
401K - for them regular working folks. I want my moneys now while I am young. Fukc pension plans, I will build my own.

Everyone laughs at african-americans...they are shown in movies as gangstas, dumb people, drug dealers, etc. But they have everyone fooled. Most of them are ALREADY RETIRED.
See, they keep prices of houses in their neighborhoods low, so they can own them outright. They don't work their arses off, like us white folks. They hang out, chill, get benefits from the government, and work for cash so they don't have to pay taxes.
Russians are getting it too, except for some reason russians like to make sure prices of homes in their neighborhoods are waaaay too high. Russians, like aftican-americans, like flashy cars and cash businesses...so it will be fun to watch. Except in the worst cases, african-americans create gettos, and russians create Brighton

Brad, you'r right about "golden" years, but the problem is not everybody will make there. You know accidents, wars, terrorism...
>>Vanguard and doctors can basically take over their moneys
Yeap, Vanguard wants your money now It is still better than to waste them. But its sucks you'r not supposed to touch them until you're 65 (it's about retirement money). And in case of a major market collaps you money are gone

People move to Mexico, also Thailand is a really good dirt cheap place.

Also you could say the Russians re-created Lynn, Ma. Some of the sections of Lynn are much better now that the Russians have displaced the African Americans. But the F.B.I. also ran one of their largest sting operations there. The case was medicaid, or medicare fraud. I forget which. Behind it was a bunch of Russians.
Costa Rica has always been an appealing thought to me for retirement. It would be nice to spend the winters there.
Sheriff, when you said " Brighton "? Were you talking about Brighton Beach in Brooklyn?

Unless I win the lottery, I don't think I'll be retiring very soon. But a couple of weeks this winter would be just the thing. I could go visit my friend Josie. She's awesome.

I think 200.000.oo would be a good nest egg for anyone. Unless of course you're already a millionaire.
How about the person in Indiana. Who won last Saturday's powerball. 314 million dollars.
But speaking of that. Tonights powerball is 15 million. I could retire on 5 million.
If you don't hear from me in the next couple of days? Then you know why. . But I expect I'll be working, and, dreaming of Costa Rica.
