Hi brad,
Doubleclick is one of the largest advertising tracking systems on the internet. They have ads on thousands of websites. What they do is they set a cookie on your computer, and then as you browse different websites they track your behavior, and try to figure out advertisings you will be interested in. For instane, if you visit car sites, it may start showing you car adversings on other websites where Doubleclick's banners are as well.
Fact #1: Google just purchased them for $3.1 billion dollars. Fact #2: Google also tracks your behavior and websites you visit. I do recommend using Firefox, and setting your browser to automatically delete Google cookies after browser is closed.
A lot of people consider this invasion of privacy, so your antivirus of spyware program deletes it. Good riddance.
As far as others - we also send cookie on your computer. In fact, any website where you login does, and you can't stay logged in if you disallow cookies. Cookies are generally harmless, except in cases like Google or Doubleclick when they can track you across millions of websites on the internet.

Thank you Sheriff. I was wondering what that was. Yes I knew that you use cookies. But that ok with me. Because my computer told me this was a trusted site. Unless you told my computer to tell me that And I do know that I can go into tools and prevent cookies. I did that with cherrytap. And it wouldn't let me log in. It took forever to figure how to undo that one. I do use firefox. All the time actually. But you know that anyways. The only problem with clearing history is it wipes out my browser also. Then I have to reload the sites I visit. I had them all on my toolbar. But I can't figure out how to put them back on it

Brad, in FireFox go to Tools menu, select Options. Select "Cookies" tab at the top. It should have a checkbox checked with title "Allow sites to Set Cookies", and button Exceptions. Click on Exceptions. Here you can modify each website's cookie behavior. For instance, you can add "doubleclick.com" and set it to "Block", which will block all cookies from doubleclick.com domain. For google.com, I have setting "Allow for Session". When you close browser, basically your browsing session ends, and Firefox will automatically delete that cookie.

I found it. It was under Privacy. I tried it. I did what you said. You're right, I could not log in here. I couldn't believe how much was in it when I reviewed my history. So I would block them on an individual basis. Not as a whole.

Yes, correct, I skipped that "Privacy" tab step.
Yep, this is for blocking individual sites, or cleaning up individual unwanted cookies after you are done browsing.
