Big difference between bringing children up in Russia, or for russian immigrants in US. U.S. has laws that overprotect children, big time. It is almost impossible to discipline them in US.

Overprotective is an understatement. You have a hard time teaching them right from wrong with all the laws that have been enacted over the past 20 years or so.

Overprotectiveness by defenition gives birth to a bigger amount of danfers and as a result - american kids are a bunch of house plants and scared pussies. Also never forget abouth the value of reverse psycology with kids: the more you forbid - the more they're gonna wonna do it.

Skinny; I don't know if they're scared pussies? But they are definitely spoiled little brats.
House plants?? What have house plants ever done to you? Why would you degrade them to the same category as undisciplined little $hitheads, with the manners of a goat

I think that because all the traditional forms of punishment are forbidden and the alternative aren't effective parents get tired of batteling little bratz, cause it's easier just to let them do whatever they want than to search for the "better" discipline concept.

There is still Catholic school Very happy Very happy . The penguins still teach discipline. Wink
I'm glad I have no children. I'd probably be in jail every other weekend. For trying to teach my kids right from wrong

The government involvement in private issues is already overboard, they tell you how to raise your kids, on what condition you can beat your wife and shoot your neighbour, which sites to visit etc. The general public sees one solution - find smb. to blame and think about less fortunate (african kids or 9/11 - up to you) to forget your own misery. Twisted Evil

The difference in breeding-up is really huge. I have a nice example-my future step-daughter.She`s almost 18 but in comparison with our Russian teens she seems to be 14. I think, the main thing is that we are taching our kids not to be greedy, gelous or agressive. Cause kids initially are prone to that. And as Americans are very selfish they do not care too much about it.
