My american friends make NY resolutions, such as quit smoking, drinking, start dieting and all kinds of retired stuff like that, which ususally lasts for a week or so.
What do you people think of this american custom?
And if you were into "resoluting" what would your resolution be?
Друзья-америкосы обещают себе и другим, что в новом году они бросят пить, курить и обжираться... - называется это Новогодняя Резолюция. Действие данной резолюции длится обычно около недели. Интересно, что вы, пиплы, об этом думаете? Что бы вы пообещали изменить в своей жизни, если б давали резолюцию?

i think those guys are idiots.
i would resolve to quit quiting things
maybe they are not idiots. but it's a stupid custom.

NY resolutions. i don't know anybody who keeps them even til after last call at the bar.

I'm just wondering, what makes poeple "resolute" at all? Is there really such a great need of change in their life, and doesn't the fact that they can't keep the resolution make them even more pathetic than they were to begin with?

The speculation on NY is because it is a borderline, for instance, have you noticed that everybody quits smoking, etc. starting Monday?

that and they quit drinking also. lose weight; exerise more. and other unobtainable goals.

what are you foking problems with rezolutions? you got some issues since you care and discuss it so much:-) resolutions are better than nothing anyway. For example one dude in russia was making resolutions almost every day: "from tomorrow i do not drink anymore. lets drink for it today last time..."
So, what are you problems? Don't you see resolutions rule!

Акакий, солнце, прочитай первый пост темы - изначально я хотела узнать что вы, дорогие мои софорумчане думаете об этом явлении и кто что хочет изменить в своей жизни. Исключая, естественно, вас, Какий, так как Вы человек абсолютно полноценный и совершенный во всех отношениях.

no; akakiy. you are being to serious. we were all poking fun of that stupid thing about resolutions. crap; who in their sane mind would want to stop drinking.
as far as losing weight. if you were serious about it. then why would a dumb-a$$ wait for the new year?
and skinny. chto vi skazali? in english please.
p.s. akakiy; i fired off a letter to walker the other day. he said that you and him were partying in russia the other day.... I said to walker.{ man I would have loved to have partied with you two};;; I bet he is a blast to get drunk and chase women}. i was expecting something a little more vile directed to me from you. so i prepared this for you akakiy. but i'm glad i don't have to use. it just a little shit giving. nothing to get upset about. all right here it is.
