So much beauty and destruction. I drive in my car consuming all that holy gasoline.. I dream of other fates while drifting into the colors of the trees and the sky that changes as I drive the concrete ribbion .. catch myself mindless of my fellow man all motorized and mesmerized by busy lives that drive us into debt .. I am chilled to the bone alone burning fuels to make motions to make motion .. and in a moment I think if I can just be still and reach out my hands and say peace, let's sit and speak and grow and show that we are as compassionate and astounding more so than these surroundings .. I wanna eat, drink and share the magnificence of my brothers and my sisters souls that slip so easily by if I close my eyes and drive hypnotized into isolation ..hold these hands. I need you ..we need each other in this world.

Actually, my daddy was a soldier in the marine corps during Viet Nam. Don't know if there was much peace in that line of work but, i don't think so.
Consume, god damn it!
Consumption is inevitable but we can be choosy as to what and how much we swallow. heh heh

That is exactly what I told hot dog vendor, but I am not a buddhist.  And the hot dog still did not taste any good.

Actually, for a Buddhist that would be exactly the same as saying "give me hot dog with Nothing"
it didn't taste any good not because of the hot dog vendor's lack of philosophical education  it is in the eye of the beholder, i.e. in the hot dog concept itself.
There is no hot dog.

Sounds like my driving on 405 FWY in the morning. Unfortunatly
my brothers and sisters do not share my feelings while driving next to me. You don't have to hear what are they yealing to you. Just look at them. They grab the wheels with such an aggressive power and speed up immediatly when they see you are trying to change the lane.

When I am among strangers (in the mall, on the road) I don’t sense them as brothers and sisters. They are like lifeless objects too me. I am sure they feel the same way towards me.
If some stranger is trying to contact me I go in shock mode, get paralyzed for a moment before I can react.
It reminds me a story.
Dopey enters overfilled city bus. Breaks through crowd and seats on a lady’s lap. After a moment she asks how long is he going to seat there. He turns around and questions: Who is here?

You got it Olgaa that was one of my points we are all mindless of our fellow man(brothers and sisters)at some point. The fact that you see them as "lifeless objects" rather than feeling, living human beings says something about the world we live in today. To me even though I know how you feel when you say that you are in shock when a stranger trys to make contact with you, it just seems odd as in we are going against nature by being so self involved <which may not be the term i'm looking for exactly but i'll assume it makes some sense, anyway I try never to meet a stranger, not always a success because many people are just more adept at being isolated and left alone. I assume not everyone knows everyone else in this forum, yet somehow there is a feeling of connection also assuming that the people behind the fonts are more than the black and white type that we read ..just saying that as I type to you I am reaching out and somehow I don't feel you recoiling from my communication <smiles> I'm a mess I know but damn I want a better world and if only one person at a time can make a difference then I'm counting myself as one. Man, I do sound like a beatnik <laughs> anywho...

I glad that I do not know personally anyone. It’s fun this way too. I can use my imagination to my like.
What do you mean under a better world? What difference you plan to make?

You are correct. I relate to points you are making. I too am eternal optimist - try to see and be aware of the world around. Lately I've been thinking if I make one contact with a stranger - usually on my noon walks, be that a smile or a conversation, I think I've achieved some sort of connection with the outside. I remember living in South Carolina where the pace of life had been a lot slower, with lesser congestion, therefore people are friendlier. Or is it just my memories?
So... a glimse of hope if a stranger (not just a man - grin) smiles at you while passing...just the awareness of that we are not alone and trying to make our lifes better in sharing the street or giving a way to that person who is in the hurry a right of way.

Это зависит, в каком городе живешь. Чем больше город, тем больше изоляция.
Я жила раз в маленьком городе, а на работу ездила в большой. Никого из местных не знала и не видела почти никогда.
А когда уезжала, с удивлением обнаружила, что все про меня все знают. Прощаться приходили с наилучшими пожеланиями люди, которых я видела, как мне казалось, первый раз в жизни.
Я как раз полдня на улице тогда провела, укладывая вещи в свой минивен.

I would agree that there is a certian appeal to the anonymity of the forum. I would say it's allure captures one's nature to engage within the realms of the mysterious, and you're so right that can be fun. On another level I think it is also a great avenue for connecting, reaching out and getting to know people in a way you would normally not know them perhaps, I dare say even more personally due to the fact that if you choose you can remain anonymous and in doing so one feels no threat from being just who they are (their true self) and that allows others a look into your world in a very personal way, regardless of the fact that they may not know your age, date of birth etc.. one might gleen the way another person is moody or that one is in trouble just by the nature of the language and terms they use. (me I ramble) <smiles> I guess I said all that to say Thanx for replying Olgaa even I don't know ya, i'm getting to know ya, and that's cool with me.

In regards to this question: All what I can say is I have no grand plan to ensure the world is a better place. Only it is in my mind to be the kind of person that I can respect myself. Always, I try to give even when there is nothing in my hand. (I try to be this way, obviously I am flawed but, still going to try!)in some way it is my hope that these efforts will make a difference towards a better world, all be it one person at a time.

Yeah, you know on my worst days just a friendly gesture has been able to trun my thinking around on itself and make me step back and say "hey life is short, get a grip everyone has rough times and maybe the person who just smiled or had a kind word with you maybe their life is upside down right now but, they still managed to give you something positive, so be thankful for them and pass it on" and yeah sometimes I think in quotations <laughs> ...I have visited S. Carolina it is pretty laid back, kind of like my little town where doesn't matter who you are people smile and wave in passing (not everyone but the majority) recently with my job I had to transfer to the inner city so on my commute I see all the road rage and somehow i've have managed a zen attitude towards it, like you said give them the road if they are in a hurry no worries <grins> so smiles to you Cheburaha from a stranger down south

Это не ностальгия, а желание пообщаться по-русски. У меня то же самое.
Помню в школе мы мечтали встретить иностранцев на улице и поговорить с ними по-английски. Мечта сбылась!

Помню мою первую попытку говорить по английски.
Это были американцы - муж и жена. Таких удивленных рож я больше в своей жизни не видела.
Я думаю, они сомневались, по-английски ли я говорила.
